AIRmen's METeorological Information advisories knows as AIRMETs are similar to SIGMETs but cover less severe weather conditions. There are three types of AIRMETs... SIERRA which indicates mountain obscuration or IFR, TANGO which indicates turbulence or wind shear and ZULU which indicates icing. If you are flying through an area covered by an AIRMET TANGO your chance of turbulence is increased.
